Winter in Prostokvashino (Зима в Простоквашино / Zima v Prostokvashino) is the third and final part of the Prostokvashino series.

Winter in Prostokvashino plot

Matroskin the cat and Sharik the dog are in the midst of a big fight. Matroskin is rightly upset that Sharik bought a trendy pair of shoes instead of practical boots for winter. Because of that, the two of them only have one pair of boots to last the winter. Matroskin and Sharik refuse to talk with each other. Instead, the postman Pechkin transmits messages between them.

New Year’s Eve arrives, and Fyodor and his dad show up in Prostokvashino. They are there without Fyodor’s mother because she’s singing in a New Year’s TV concert.

Unfortunately, Fyodor and his dad get their car stuck in the snow. And so, everyone helps rescue the car. In working together to do this, Matroskin and Sharik make up. Everyone then gets ready to celebrate the New Year.

Inside, Fyodor and his dad try to fix Pechkin’s TV. However, as it turns out, the TV’s sound is broken. Because of this, they end up watching Fyodor’s mother’s singing performance on TV with no sound.

Then, all of a sudden, they hear the mother’s singing behind them. She already had taped the concert and had just skied all the way to Prostokvashino to be with them.
