Synopsis

Winter Evening in Gagra became a classic almost immediately after its release. This Karen Shakhnazarov’s film (the acclaimed director of The Courier and We’re from Jazz) received flattering reviews from critics and at once settled in the hearts of millions of viewers around the world.

Winter Evening in Gagra is all about a young romantic, Arkady, who loves to tap dance, despite its passé status in the Soviet Union of the 1980s. He tries to convince Beglov, a tap dance star of the 1950s to become his coach and mentor. However, Beglov is sour with life, nostalgic for his old step dance prime, and, what’s more, somewhat estranged with his daughter. Thanks to Arkady, though, Beglov finds a way to become enchanted with life again. Watch this touching and life-affirming film for a feel-good story that will have you tapping your feet.
