Synopsis

The Student is a Russian film about a young boy who thinks he knows everything about moral standards.

Benjamin is a high school student raised by a single mother. At first glance he seems completely normal. However, inside he is a fanatic who believes the world is mired in evil, lies, and hypocrisy. He thinks virtue is destroyed and faith is lost. His solution? He believes he can use the Bible as an instruction and test those around him according to traditional Christian values. When an good-natured adult tries to reach out to help Benjamin, we get to see how dangerous the young boy can truly become.

The Student was critically acclaimed following its release, including picking up an Un Certain Regard award at the Cannes Film Festival.
