His Wife’s Diary

His Wife’s Diary is one of the best films by Russian director, Alexei Uchitel. It tells the story of the last years of the life of the great Russian writer, Ivan Bunin. It describes his victories, defeats, as well as many hours of loneliness. The film won the Grand Prix award at the Sochi Open Russian Film Festival.

The great writer, Ivan Bunin, spent the last years of his life abroad, alone and confused. His searching soul could not find peace anywhere – neither in any country, nor in the arms of any woman. In His Wife’s Diary, we see the unfortunate Bunin living in the Cote d’Azur. He sits in a fragile love triangle with his wife and young muse-lover. However, the arrival of an exotic opera singer, Marga, changes all that.
