Father Frost is a traditional Russian fairy tale classic by director, Alexander Rou. The film tells the story of a conceited young man and a young woman with a tyrannical step-mother who must overcome magical trials in order to be together.
Once upon a time there lived a quiet old man and a grumpy old woman. The old man had a daughter – the beautiful, hard-working Nastenka. Meanwhile, the old woman had her own daughter – the envious, lazy Marfushka.
One day walking in the forest, Nastenka comes across Ivan, a young man whose handsome looks have conquered many girls’ hearts. However, the forest sorcerer has played a cruel joke on him. He has turned Ivan’s beautiful face into a bear’s. Ivan’s bear face will remain until Ivan learns to live a more righteous life.
Meanwhile, Marfushka’s mother is trying to marry off her darling. However, all the would-be grooms instead take a shining to Nastenka. In a rage, the mother orders the old man to take Nastenka to the forest in the middle of a fierce winter and leave her to freeze to death.
That’s where Nastenka comes across the gray-bearded Father Frost, “Morozko.”
