Synopsis

Ashik Kerib is a Georgian film that is acclaimed director, Sergei Parajanov’s final work. Parajanov dedicated the film to his good friend, the great Andrei Tarkovsky.

The wandering minstrel, Ashik Kerib, is a poor musician with a heart of gold. He often performs at weddings for the rich. At one of them, he meets the daughter of a noble Turk and immediately falls in love. However, though the girl loves him, they can’t be together. Her father rejects him for his poverty. And so begins of a long period of wandering during which Ashik Kerib vows to get rich or die trying.
