9th Company is one of the most well known modern Russian movies. The film tells the story of a young group of Soviet soldiers who fight for their lives in the Soviet-Afghan War.
The film starts in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, in late 1988, where a band of military trainees is undergoing training at the hands of a sadistic commanding officer.
Soon enough, they are sent off to fight in the Soviet war in Afghanistan. After arriving at the Bagram airbase, they head to the Khost province to protect supply lines. There they encounter brutal fighting and slaughter.
Watch this powerful classic for its moving acting and stunning mountain scenery. There’s also some excellent music.
